Well,… IF the homecoming was a decoy, then they sacrificed Roya for the feint. It would be interesting to know if the amount of explosive they found in the news van matched the amount from the chest in the tailor’s shop.

I’m guessing Brody ultimately is redeemed as a “good guy” (guessing just based on general narrative balance on American TV). As I mentioned before, I’m wondering if he ends up with Carrie. Or maybe dies heroically at the end. I sense they’ve made him too sympathetic a character for him to ultimately be revealed as the bad guy.

It’s true, Roya did seem to be fairly high-placed to be sacrificed so easily. The show is so good as misdirection that I could be totally off, but I feel like we’re headed towards Brody dying – whether as a bad guy or in a heroic self-sacrifice, I’m not sure.

The more I think about it, the more I agree that Brody dying makes narrative sense. I’d bet heroically; I just get a sense they’ve portrayed him too sympathetically to make him the villain (although it’d be a great twist if he was).

I’m guessing they didn’t show us Brody’s meetings in captivity as a red herring. We’re supposed to wonder and think he’s bad. (Maybe I’m just too willing to believe in Brody’s goodness.)
